EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR THE NRL ESPORTS PREMIERSHIP (NREP) PARTICIPANTS

Ozsports Radio is looking to expand rugby league into the digital age.

A national esports league where players represent NRL clubs (or expansion bids like Adelaide) in an officially sanctioned competition using the current Rugby League video game (e.g. Rugby League Live 4 or the next licensed title).

Think:

NRL Premiership – but digital, weekly broadcast-ready, and club-aligned.

Competition Format

  • 16–18 teams (all NRL clubs + potential expansion teams)
  • 2–3 players per club (1 starter, 1–2 reserves)
  • Regular season:
    • Weekly fixtures mirroring the real NRL draw
    • Best‑of‑3 matches per round
  • Finals series:
    • Top 8
    • Best‑of‑5 semis
    • Grand Final as a live LAN event (Sydney, Brisbane, or Adelaide)

Player Pathways

  • Open qualifiers → State qualifiers → Club drafts
  • Clubs sign players to short‑term esports contracts

Community tournaments feed into the league.

Ozsports Radio is looking for expressions of interest from potential participants and interested people who would like to be involved in the organisation of this project.
