The NRL Esports Premiership (NREP) Organiser is a hybrid project and event management role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the NRL’s competitive gaming tournaments. The organiser aligns traditional rugby league brand objectives with digital gaming formats.
Core responsibilities for this role generally encompass:
1. Tournament Operations & Execution
- Event Logistics: Planning and executing both online qualifiers and live Grand Final events, including venue sourcing and hardware management.
- Match Operations: Overseeing the tournament brackets, scheduling, lobby hosting, and rule enforcement to guarantee fair play and competitive integrity.
- Rulebooks & Compliance: Authoring and implementing official NREP rulebooks, code of conduct policies, and player eligibility criteria.
2. Stakeholder Management
- NRL Club Integration: Liaising with official NRL clubs to facilitate player drafting, branding, and team representation.
- Publisher Relations: Working alongside game developers/publishers (e.g., EA Sports for Rugby League mods, Fortnite, or other partnered titles) to ensure IP and licensing compliance.
- Talent & Broadcast: Coordinating esports shoutcasters, analysts, and on-air talent for live broadcasts.
3. Marketing & Commercial
- Fan Engagement: Driving digital viewership through Twitch, YouTube, and other streaming platforms.
- Sponsorship Execution: Fulfilling sponsor benefits and integrating corporate partner branding into the physical and digital tournament spaces.
4. Administration & Budgeting
- Budget Ownership: Developing event budgets, negotiating vendor/supplier contracts, and tracking ROI on tournament costs.
- Reporting: Evaluating viewership metrics, participant feedback, and overall event success post-tournament.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Experience: 2–4 years of demonstrated experience in esports tournament operations, event management, or sports administration.
- Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of competitive gaming ecosystems and a passion for the National Rugby League.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with tournament platforms (e.g., Challonge, Battlefy) and streaming/broadcasting software.
